Nollamara Primary School is a culturally diverse Intensive English Learning Primary School and the need for an interactive and appealing New Library and Resource Centre to integrate within an established school was requested by the Department of Education.
The New Library Resource Centre responds to the needs of the school by providing an exciting and vibrant learning space combining both traditional and contemporary interpretations of ‘the library.’ This is further displayed by the state of the art facilities, technologies and furniture within a building that is sympathetic to the heritage aesthetic of the original 1956 school.
A close relationship with the school during the design and construction phase ensured that the completed library meets and exceeds the needs of the students. It was important to the staff that this building could act as a functional centre and hub for the school, as well as be attractive from the street to form a welcoming entry statement and frontage for the school.
